Final task evaluation: rough footage evaluation

Final task: rough footage

Today I decided to go and film some more footage for my final task, Overall I think the day was extremely successful and useful. I got lots of valuable shots that I will definitely use in my final task. I also got a large variety of different shots meaning I have a lot of choices. I will be posting another blog which is an evaluation of each shot that I took.

Final task: production update and plan

Every day during this half term I have been working on my final task and I have a clear plan set out for the filming of it. During Sunday and Monday, I plan to gather all the remaining establishing shots I need for my documentary. I plan to edit these before, in between, and after both interviews. In regards to filming the interviews, I plan to film them on both Wednesday and Thursday this week, therefore allowing me to have time to review and edit them. I am confident I will be able to finish gathering all my footage before the end of this week, and I am confident enough that I will have had enough time to do a first draft of an edit.  For the first interview, I plan to travel to Alexei's house for the interview, just like my preliminary task, however for my second interview I am still deciding where to film the interview, I am more pulled to the idea of filming it at my house as in the kitchen its very open and encourages open discussion, I also wouldn't have to travel to h...

Final task: set questions for my second interview

Final questions for my second interview

Final task: set questions for my first interview

Final task: plan for the questions in my second interview

I recently posted a blog where I introduced my second subject to the documentary. Of course, with my first interview, I had already done a preliminary task with the same subject, so I already had an idea about what types of questions I should ask, however, I haven't ever done an interview with this subject before; so I will need to plan the questions that I will be asking in my interview. I want to keep the same structure of the interview as the first one, by cutting down the number of questions, therefore allowing much more focus on individual topics.  The subject has a background in charity work, which I believe is a key aspect of this interview. I have already stated in my introduction I don't plan to ask very personal questions about this subject, but more in fact questions about which answers are solutions to this crisis. Meaning I will be asking questions such as... If you were me, how would you help my friend Alexei? If you were Alexei, what would you do to try and escap...

Plan for the questions in my first interview for my Final Task

My first interview in my final task will be on subject 1 (Alexei) in which I plan to change some of the  questions to suit my topic more. I want to keep the idea of him moving out and the topic of loneliness as I believe it directly correlates to my topic, however, I want to cut the stuff about the past. It will make my final interview more heartfelt. Therefore I have planned to change some of the questions in my interview, but this is only a plan of the questions, later in the week I will post a blog confirming my final questions in the interview. My first ideas for the questions that I will be asking will conduct the following: How has the whole process of moving out been for you? What is a loneliness to you? Are you lonely? I believe by cutting the questions much shorter will have a far greater impact on my documentary. I believe that these questions are perfectly correlated with my topic, and will provide a good structure for the start of my documentary. However, these are only...

Final task: how will the questions change?

I have learned lots about interviews through conducting my own interview in my preliminary task. It has helped me to understand what types of questions I need to ask in my final task. In my preliminary task, I asked very open questions which helps and encourages open discussions.  However, I believe that the questions I asked in my preliminary task were valid, but don't believe that they directly correlate to my topic. I feel as if the second half of my interview was much more substantial than the first.  The conversation first started to change off of topic, which I do not want to happen in my final task, therefore I will be making sure that the questions asked in my topic are open but don't invite the conversation to go off-topic.
